More information
When do I have the right to get my money back from the credit provider?
For you to have a right to demand money back from a credit-provider, the company that you made your purchase from must have done something wrong or different from what was agreed upon.
What is a credit purchase?
When you choose a payment option where you don’t pay right away, it is considered a credit purchase.
The purchase can be financed by a credit that the seller offered. For example, if you pay using a credit card.
The credit can also be financed by a third party. For example, a bank or a finance company that has a contract with the seller and the purchase is agreed upon in a credit agreement. For example, a car loan that the car firm facilitates with a credit provider that they are collaborating with. Or when you choose to pay by invoice from an invoice company.
What are your rights?
When you have made a credit purchase the credit provider has the same responsibilities as the company that you made your purchase from. You can demand a refund or compensation for a faulty product or service. You also have the right to withhold the payment. But you can’t demand that the credit provider sends an order, provides a service, or fixes a faulty product or service. You also cannot demand more money than what you paid with credit.
What is the time-limit for making a complaint to a credit provider?
There is no regulated time limit in the Consumer Credit Act. You should, however, contact the credit provider as soon as possible.
